Gracious K - Fire Radio's J Fresh Interviews UK Funky's Hottest Property

Fire Radio's J Fresh caught up with Gracious K for a radio interview after his performance at Lava & Ignite in Bournemouth.
Slick n Fresh were lucky enough to be up in the studio and it went a little something like this (full audio interview and freestyle inside).
J Fresh: Funky is the big sound for 09, your tune the Migraine Skank, break it down for us how that tune came about...
Gracious K: There were a group of us that used to do the dance, and we saw people started mimicking it but it had no name. So I thought about it and broke it down into simple steps and make it orchestrated so everyone knew how to do it.
J: The actual release is a slightly different tune from the original that us DJ's were playing, was there some kind of conflict?
G: I wouldn't say conflict but there were forces that were out of our control and politics higher up so we worked around it.
J: I'm asking everyone who comes in for their opinions on the Funky scene. There seems to be a split between the skankers movement and the more soulful side, what are your views on it?
G: The other day we did UK Funky live and it was a blend between the soulful funky house and us, the new age and it made a nice cross. You need the balance, in a rave people get bored if they are bombarded with all of one or the other. To me its just music, its there to be enjoyed.
J: Of course it helps keep the girls in the dance too...
G: Dun know! We need some more girls in here...
J: You're looking shifty now, there were too many girls down here in Bournemouth tonight, you could hear them all signing over the top of the mic!
G: There's too many girls, too many many girls! It was a barrage, I don't think I've ever seen as many girls!
J: What other artists or producers are you feeling in the UK Funky scene at the moment?
G: Donaeo, Lil Silva, Apple, Crazy Cousinz, Katie Pearl, NY, everyone's bussin it up at the moment but there's a few people I'm really looking at. Tribal Man as well, they are doing a lot.
J: Of course Migraine Skank is a full release very soon what's the date for that?
G: October 11th digitally released.
J: What's the plans after, can you give us some information on that?
G: We're just going to keep the party going, I've got a track called "Swear Down" which I performed at Notting Hill Carnival at the Rampage stand on both days which got a great response. Check YouTube for that one!
