Forthcoming: Mr M - Dash Down

UK Funky from MR M with Dash Down

UK Funky is a strange beast. Girls seem to love dancing to songs about them being abused. Happy days eh?

The next funky anthem telling you to dash a gash is Mr M - Dash Down, and this one even got our head bopping at SnF Towers.

Mr M is going one step further than other UKF soldiers such as Funkee Dee who has now asked 2 million people on YouTube "Are you gonna bang thou?"

M is about getting in and dashing down with no "wifey business". Who's asking? He's doing!

Crude you may say? So what. I test you not to bop your head to the video below.

Dash Down is on the BBC Radio 1Xtra B Playlist and is currently MistaJam's "Jam Hot Record of The Week."

Night Audio NA003 - El-B 'Dirty' E.P

Ghost Records and dubstep pioneer El-B joins the ranks at Night Audio for this grimey offering of ghetto dubstep and dark garage.

Preceding his ‘Nu Levels’ album, due to drop later this year, the ‘Dirty’ E.P provides 4 tracks guaranteed to smash up the dance floors, as well as providing a glimpse of what is in store from El-B and other Ghost members – Laze, Skolz, and of course Rolla.

‘How U Like Dat’ kicks things off with a kick driven bass frenzy, letting us know well and truly that Ghost is back. ‘Dirty Dirty’ follows on from the former, with a growling bass line and Rolla’s exclamation that this is indeed, as expected; ‘dirty’.

‘This Thrill’ sees a production reminiscent of the dark garage days of yonder, a pulsing bass line accentuated by Nico’s lovely vocals. The final track on the E.P, ‘Dirty Flow’, brings us the contrast of a winding guitar line over a punchy bass and a half step beat. Once again Rolla steps up to deliver the hook.

With the ‘Dirty’ E.P, you get a fantastic example of the versatility of the Ghost sound, and four tracks that will make the clubs shake – and thus, all of those in it – for sure.

For audio, please head over to the Night Audio SoundCloud, or visit their website for the latest info.

PREVIEW: Subeena - 'Picture'/'Spectrums' 12"

Following up from Subeenas single on Planet Mu late last year, we have this two track 12” due out on Opit Records soon. ‘Picture’ and ‘Spectrums’ offer another peek into the talented Italian’s interesting take on electro styled bass music.

Starting off with a half step vibe before quickly leaping into a 4/4 jive, ‘Picture’ is a tune that’s powered by a lovely analogue bass. Lo-fi pads and melodies help give this a very authentic, dare I say European feel to it, and this is helped along with some nice filter modulations and a driving beat.

‘Spectrums’ is described in the press release as a ‘monastic rave’, and it is easy to see where this bizarre description has come from. Monks with glow sticks and pie-eyed priests are the image of the day for this track, and towards the end of the tune you are pretty much enveloped by the need to repent.

At only 24, there are already signs that Subeena will be around for some time to come. It’s not throwaway music, its had some thinking time behind it, and that will ultimately lead to it catching more and more people’s imagination.

You can keep up with the latest goings on with Subeena over at her Myspace. This E.P is out in the shops on February 15th.

Gremino - Ruffness/Silver - out soon!

The debut release from Helsinki based producer Gremino is an absolute corker of an E.P. Featuring two tracks, 'Ruffness' and 'Silver', it is due for release on Canadian garage label Fyutchaflex Recordings soon.

Kicking off with 'Ruffness', the E.P bursts into life with astonishing aplomb - dirty is not the word to describe this track, but it is a fine piece of work and will surely have dance floors hitting the ceiling. There are some dubstep influences in there, but most notable are the early hardcore references - pitched up vocals, in your face synth lines and a very gritty bassline.

'Silver' shuffles into play, again referencing early 90's hardcore from the start, before unleashing an astonishingly powerful bass line that is very much pinned to the sub. Its wobble, but not as we know it, and its bloody enjoyable.

Both these tracks will destroy dance floors, it's as simple as that. A very strong debut release, expect big things from this man. To hear clips please visit Gremino's MySpace, or for more information head over to the Fyutchaflex Recordings website.

Hotflush announce HFT010 - Sigha - Rawww E.p

The latest release from respected label Hotflush Recordings is a three track 12" from Sigha. This is a milestone for the label, being the tenth release on their HFT imprint. As you'd expect, the E.P is straddling the boundaries of various genres, underpinned by some heavy, heaby bass.

Developing his sound from his first two releases on Hotflush which circulated on the edge of dubstep, London-based Sigha delivers three tracks leaning towards dubbed out house and techno, but soaked in sub bass.

'Rawww' is a deep house tune, with resonant pads providing bedding for the quirky synth line marauding over the top. 'Hold Your Heart Up To The light' is a sub driven, 2-step tinged beast with glitchy drums galore. The final track on the E.P, 'Untitled #2', again takes a swing towards deep house, with minimal-esque layers creating a very spaced out track.

All in all, Sigha has produced three interesting tracks that are fantastically atmospheric. The E.P will be landing on 23rd November 2009 - for audio, please click here.
