YES YES Collabomix 2. Let's do this 99ish - 2003ish Breakstep / Dark 2-step (Zinc / SUAD era). Make sure you read the process and caveats as they've changed since last time. Here's how it works:- Registration opens (This thread).
- DJs that want to participate post below. First come, first served.
- Registration closes when desired amount of DJs are registered (in this first case it's 20 DJs). DJs are listed in the thread.
- The first DJ from each mix picks a track to start with
- DJ lays down 2 tracks to the mix and records it on his PC.
- DJ saves his/her mix as a WAV. 44,100hz, 16-bit, stereo
- Immediately after the 2nd tune mixed has dropped and playing solo the audio is split into 2 at the point of a zero crossing. Both parts are saved as WAV, compressed into RAR and uploaded to the web using YouSendIt.com.
- DJ PMs part 1 (part with their mixed tunes) to me - Mr Brainz.
- DJ PMs next DJ on the list with the link to the 2nd part of the mix which should be their 2nd mixed tune playing out to the end. They also post in the thread that he/she has passed it on.
- Repeats step 5-9 till all DJs have mixed.
- Finished mix is posted in the thread
Caveats- IMPORTANT: When you play back the audio that the last DJ has passed on to you, make sure your EQs are flat. This is so when the audio is put back together it sounds the same. Try not to let the volume distort it either.
- If a DJ takes too long to pass the mix on then you might get passed over and registration is opened back up for a replacement.
- MAKE SURE you have subscribed to this thread for updates and have turned on in your user CP "Receive private messages from other users.", "Alert me with a notice when I receive a Private Message." and "Notify me by email when I receive a new Private Message."
- The last song in the mix should run to the end or have sufficient mixing time if it's unreleased or your not comfortable with sending an extended amount of the tune. Do NOT cover this with every single effect from your mixer.
- RAR is the best format to use, due to being a higher compression ratio than ZIP and being more widely used than other formats such as 7z. RAR on Mac is a bit swag, so if you have problems then use ZIP (your file will be about 20MBs bigger though).
- Try not to clang. You have time to do it properly. Please don't rush!
